Iceland 2021 – Part 3: #10 Hike from Hornvik to Veidileysufjördur

Departure from Hornstrandir. Hike from Hornvik to Veidileysufjördur to catch the boat at 10AM. Distance is about 12km.

After returning back to Isarfjördur by boat we had lunch at Tjöruhusid, before driving all the way to Stori-Kalfalaekur near Borgarnes to drop off Kerstin.

I continued to Kirkjufell.

Our plan for our Westfjords hike:

Day 1: Arrive at Hesteyri and hike to Budir

Day 2: Hike from Budir to Hornvik with a detour to the cliffs

Day 3: Hike around the Horn at Hornvik

Day 4: Hike from Hornvik to Veidileysufjördur to catch the boat at 10AM

Day 4: Hike from Hornvik to Veidileysufjördur

Hike back to Veidileysufjördur from the Campsite Hornvik

We started at around 4AM. The hike was the opposite direction from the day before. Up next to a waterfall, crossing patches of snow until the pass where we could see Veidileysufjördur.

Almost at sea level the clouds lifted and the sun came out. We waited for the boat at the campsite.

After arriving at Isarfjördur we ate some lunch and drove all the way down to Stori Kalfalaekur, the horse farm Kerstin was going to work for the next week while i was driving around alone in a camper.

After saying goodbye i continued to the Snaefellsness Peninsula to the famous Kirkjufell mountain.
