South America 2025 – #05 – Bolivia – Salar de Uyuni – Laguna Colorada

Start of the trip going south to the lagoons like Laguna Colorada and Laguna Verde. Along the way we pass Geysers, Deserts and rock formations.

After 30 minutes into our trip the rear tire exploded. Our luck the driver managed to stay on the road and nothing serious happened. We had to wait till the whole wheel was replaced (luckily another car brought an extra spare) and we could continue.

We first stopped at Laguna Canapa and went south via Laguna Chia Kkota, Laguna Honda, the rock tree and finally Laguna Colorada. The elevation gradually climbs up to 4300m. We spent the night at a basic hostel without a heater. The only heat was in the dining room where there was a small oven. At night the temperature dropped to -8°C.

The day was very nice. We saw lots of Flamingos and landscape that is out of this world 😉
