South America 2025 – #03 – Bolivia – Sajama National Park #2

Second day at Sajama National Park. After a rough sleep (waking up a lot, due to high altitude) and a headache in the morning, we went for the Geysir field at 4400m and to the Laguna at midday from the day before. Along the way we stopped at numerous friendly Alpakas curious what we are doing at their home.

Late afternoon we went to the hot springs again and drove back to La Paz after sunset.

The drive is about 4,5h. Along the way you have to pass several police checks.

It seems to be quite unusual for them that tourists drive around with a rental car. They asked us lots of questions but were always friendly.

The altitude is a real challenge. We had numerous coca teas and Ibuprofen to battle altitude sickness. The second day was worse until it got better on day 3 (next day).
