Dolomites #03 – Sellaronda MTB Tour

14.09.2020

Great bike tour around the Sella. About 60km with lots of single trails supported by numerous lifts carrying your bike to the next trail.

We brought our own bikes but there are numerous bike shops to rent from.

We started and finished in Corvara, doing the tour clockwise.

The first trails are very easy and straight forward. Passing Prolongia onto the next Lift. The first real challenge was the Trail starting at Bec de Roces marked as S2. Very steep at the beginning with parts of flowy forest and rock garden parts.

The next Lift up to Portavescovo only runs every half hour, so make sure you dont miss it.

At the top you have beautiful views over mountain ranges. The next trail is more of a rock and gravel track down to Fodom. Nothing spectacular.

Up to the next Lift to Passo Pordoi leading into the next trail which was another challenge, again with some really! steep parts and crazy slopes in the forest. The trail is also famous as The Infinity Trail, because of its length. If you are an experienced downhill rider you will enjoy this trail.

The end leads to the Lift to Col Rodella, one of the most scenic places during the route, with views of Langkofel. The trails starting from Col Rodella are called Ikarus Trail (easy but fun!), Paravis S1 and Gran Paradiso, which divides into Easy Jumpline S1 and Family Line S0. We took the fun part of the Family Line. Super flowy and fun to ride.

At the end we arrived at Wolkenstein to catch the last lift to Dantercepies for the last trail back to Corvara.

This trail was nice but nothing spectacular 🙂

In total it took us about 7-8h for 60km.

It is very important keeping track of your time because of the opening times of the Lifts. You dont want to be stranded in one of the valleys far away from your starting point :).

At least I read there are Taxis bringing you and your bike back to where you started
