Mont Blanc – Multi day hike along the TMB #4
20.09.2022
After a more or less warm (+3°C) night in our converted Zafira our intention was to drive to Les Contamines-Montjoie and start a hike from Col du Joly to the top of Mount Joly along a beautiful ridge with beautiful views. The tour was supposed to stretch along 15km return with 800m in elevation gain.
Unfortunately the road gmaps recommended (the only one) to Col du Joly is a 4×4 road only. We tried with our Zafira but had to return pretty soon because of large boulders and steep climbing.
We turned around and made up a new plan for the day(s).
We enjoyed the valley at a Sainte Chapelle till noon and decided to do a grand finale:
We parked our car at Col du Montets (where we started our tour on the first day) and hike up again to Lac du Cheserys to set camp up there and return the same way and drive back home (BEST DECISION!).

We started from Col du Montets at around 3PM. On the way up we stopped from time to time to enjoy the beautiful scenery. We saw a family of capricorns feeding on the grass on the way. Beautiful.

We arrived at Lac du Cheserys at around 7PM put up our tent and enjoyed the amazing sunset.
The night was very cold again (-4°C) but with no winds. I have the feeling my body started to get used to those cold temperatures, at least a bit…
The next morning there was no wind until 9AM.
The lake was flat (mirror time!!) and we enjoyed the sunrise again.

We descended at around 2PM or 3PM arriving at our car at around 5PM and drove back home.
AMAZING days!
