Costa Rica – From Coast to Coast

After spending amazing weeks in Mexico we decided to go back to Costa Rica, where Kerstin was beginning of January when she travelled for herself.

Costa Ricas East Coast

We started at the East Coast driving all the way down to Cahuita. Places we been were Cahuita, Manzanillo and Punta Uva.

The difference to when Kerstin visited was quite obvious. It was almost beginning of the rainy season and the weather was nice most of the time. There were days when it was sunny in the morning and raining in the afternoon which resulted in very humid conditions :). On the other side Costa Rica’s green is unmatched!

After travelling around the south of the east coast we took the chance to volunteer in Tortuguero where the Leatherback season was about to start. We were lucky to experience the nesting of a huge Leatherback one night and help to protect the eggs from poachers. This was a mindblowing experience.

We continued to drive from Tortuguero to La Fortuna for a few days. The weather we had was a lot wetter compared to the coast. Most of the time we had clouds with rain. Some glimpses of the famous volcano nontheless. Next stop was the west coast. At first the Nicoya Peninsula. Apart from the obvious stuff Curu National Park in the south impressed us. Fantastic views and wildlife (and Mango trees).

We continued towards the south along the coast until Uvita where we stayed a few days to surf chill and relax.

Costa Rica was a great experience. We spent about 2 weeks there before continuing to our next adventure.
